Intelligent System for Geochemical Sampling Network Design

Inventor: Dr. Majid Pourkerman, Faculty Member of the Research Institute of Earth Sciences

An intelligent system has been developed to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of mineral exploration studies through the design and optimization of geochemical sampling networks. By integrating geological and spatial data with advanced data-processing methods and artificial intelligence techniques, the system enables the assessment of site-specific conditions and the development of a targeted framework for positioning sampling points.

The primary objective of this technology is to reduce uncertainty in sampling network design, improve the appropriate spatial coverage of study areas, account for natural conditions and environmental factors affecting geochemical results, and support more accurate decision-making during exploration activities. The system is designed to identify suitable sampling options based on the characteristics of each area and to assess the quality of the proposed sampling network.

The technology can be applied to a wide range of mineral exploration projects, as well as regional and detailed geochemical studies. It can also serve as an intelligent decision-support system alongside the professional expertise of geologists and exploration specialists. Reducing design errors, optimizing field operations, improving quality-control capabilities, and integrating available information are among the key objectives of developing this system.

The concept and framework of the system have been presented as an invention entitled “Integrated System for Automated Generation of Geochemical Sampling Networks Based on Multi-Source Analysis and Intelligence.” According to the issued certificate, the patent application has been approved following scientific review and assessment and is currently undergoing the legal registration procedures.

Further development of the system will continue with the aim of expanding its analytical capabilitie
