Scientific Publications Performance Report of the Earth Sciences Research Institute in 2025
In 2025, the Earth Sciences Research Institute of the Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration of Iran demonstrated significant and growing performance, making a substantial contribution to the production and dissemination of specialized knowledge in the field of Earth sciences. In total, 27 high-quality international and domestic scientific articles and two books were published by thirteen faculty members of the Earth Sciences Research Institute.
Of the published articles, 21 were published in reputable international journals indexed in the Web of Science (ISI), while 6 articles were published in domestic scientific journals indexed in the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC). In addition, two books were published in Persian. An analysis of the JCR classification of the ISI-indexed articles shows that, out of the 21 articles, 7 were published in Q1 journals, 8 in Q2 journals, 3 in Q3 journals, and 3 in Q4 journals. This qualitative distribution demonstrates the Institute’s effective and targeted presence in high-impact scientific journals.
In terms of faculty participation, the statistics indicate that the Institute’s researchers served as corresponding authors in 8 of the ISI-indexed articles and as first authors in 5 articles. In 5 of these articles, they simultaneously served as both first and corresponding authors. In the ISC-indexed articles, faculty members served as corresponding authors in 3 articles and as first authors in 1 article; in 1 of these articles, they simultaneously served as both first and corresponding authors.
Furthermore, in each of the published books, the first authorship was held by faculty members of the Earth Sciences Research Institute. This level of direct involvement reflects the depth of research activities, professional responsibility, and central role of the Institute’s researchers in knowledge production. In addition to the above publications, numerous articles by the Institute’s faculty members were also presented and published in international and national conferences.
Overall, this report demonstrates both qualitative and quantitative growth in the scientific output of the Earth Sciences Research Institute in 2025. These achievements reflect the Institute’s coherent planning, targeted efforts, and scientific commitment to enhancing the country’s research standing at both the national and international levels.
