Introduction to the basics of climate change along with complete training on MODTRAN and RRTM climate models
Online training course "Introduction to the basics of climate change along with complete training on MODTRAN and RRTM climate models"
Instructor: Dr. Alireza Vaezi, faculty member of the Earth Sciences Research Institute
The impact of climate change on the quality of human life has received much attention in recent decades. The factors affecting these changes and how to control them have created a very serious debate and controversy in scientific communities and decision-makers. Accurate understanding of the mechanisms affecting these changes and familiarity with the role of humans in increasing or decreasing natural trends can help us to orient ourselves in intelligently confronting the effects of climate change and adjusting its unnatural trends, and will bring low-cost and effective decision-making to societies. Due to the new nature of the climate change phenomenon, unfortunately, the country's universities do not offer codified courses in this fascinating branch of science. This has caused students in the fields of geology, geography, environment, natural resources, civil engineering with an environmental focus, agriculture, mining, etc. to be deprived of familiarity and entry into this popular scientific field. This is while, due to the increasing importance of climate change, many budgets and funds are allocated by developed countries for students interested in climate research.
Due to the newness of the climate change phenomenon, unfortunately, there are no codified courses offered in this attractive scientific field in the country's universities. It is hoped that the dear students will provide the necessary prerequisites for entering this new scientific field by completing the current training course.
The instructor of the course has tried to design a practical training course, unlike the existing foreign training courses, by presenting theoretical topics in a timely and concise manner, that will transform users from zero to semi-professional users in the shortest possible time. It is hoped that by completing the current training course, the esteemed students will have the necessary prerequisites to enter this new scientific field. In this training course, students will be familiar with the general principles and fundamentals of atmospheric physics and thermodynamics and the mechanisms of energy exchange and conservation on Earth, and then, based on what they have learned, they will work with the MODTRAN and RRTM climate models.
It is worth noting that the duration of the training course was about 6 hours, but these 6 hours were presented in multiple sections in the most optimal time.
