- Research on Petrography, Petrology, and Geodynamics and Geochemistry of Plio-Quaternary volcanism in Iran.

-Research on the volcanic hazard on the on the young volcanic regions of Iran, including, Damavand, Sahand, Sabalan, Taftan and Bazman Plio-Quaternary volcanoes. Because some of these volcanic centers are near big cities, such as Tehran and Tabriz and they are potential hazards.

-As author and co-authored over 62 presentations at national and international conferences, including the annual meeting of the European Geosciences Union (EGU). I was co-convened a session at the EGU annual meeting in 2010, 2014, 2015.


Research Interests:

My research has focused on the Quaternary volcanoes and young magmatism by studying on their petrology, geochemistry, volcanic centers and hazards in Iran for over 20 years. I also study aspects of geodynamic system of these rocks by research into aspects of the young volcanoes of Iran for understanding the physical processes underlying volcanic phenomena and develop methods of hazard volcanic phenomena and associated risk. My PhD involved a lot of igneous geochemistry by looking at the young volcanic rocks in NW of Iran on the Iranian plateau. I act as an active project partner in the proposed studies in collaboration with Professor Mark Allen Department of Earth Sciences University of Durham, UK since 2006. This includes being "Magmatism and lithosphere evolution during continental collision "and a NERC funded project on "Orogenic Plateau Magmatism". I am also a member of the volcanic geological advisory group of volcanic hazard research section in Geological Survey of Iran and directorate of the Iranian Quaternary Association (IRQUA). I work closely with specialists in many other fields, including, isotopic geochemistry. I was as a candidate for a Durham University Fellowship for volcano hazard, to collaborate with scientists  the Department of Earth Sciences and the Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR) in Durham University under the DIFeREns Scheme (Durham International Fellowships for Research and Enterprise) form January to March 2016 in Durham University.  My specific fellowship focused on research opportunities in the field of volcanic hazards.
